`Hypnotherapy was suggested to me by a friend and as I had been suffering from anxiety for a number of years, I decided to give it a go.  I found that I could face my fear associated with a number of losses.  I was able unlock the feelings and thoughts that were making me feel scared during a relaxed state. I realised that when the anxiety decreased I felt more confident and I felt able to make a number of changes and which ultimately improved my quality of life.’

-Michelle, 36 Oxfordshire-

`EMDR is like wandering through the corridors of a bad memory or experience with a friend for support, allowing your mind to open new doors of thought and perception about the incident.  I found re-tracing the incident once, twice and more times became less scary, until I could treat it with detachment rather than fear.  Making the journey with a therapist provided a safe environment to confront issues I had locked away for years and free me of them.’

-Sally, 40 Oxfordshire-

My treatment with Clara began in January of 2017 and finished in July 2017. From the outset, I felt at ease and in safe hands.

I was suffering with PTSD from an Operational Tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2008. This had manifested itself over time with severe anxiety, flash backs, thought intrusions, nightmares and self-harm.

Clara explained throughout my treatment what may be expected and how the treatment would work and progress. We spoke about the choice of EMDR or CBT for my treatment and we chose EMDR. I say we chose, as every step of the way it was at joint decision between myself and Clara for the best outcome with the treatment. I must admit, at first I was a little skeptical however I was blown away with how effective EMDR is.

It was a long road, made very smooth thanks to Clara’s knowledge, experience and patients. An outstanding practitioner who I would trust fully for further treatment and I would also recommend her to family and friends without a second thought.

I am truly grateful for all Clara has done for me and highly recommend her to anyone seeking treatment.

Hypnotherapy

The use of hypnosis to treat emotional problems

This is a process in which you are guided into a deeply relaxed and receptive state. The therapist does this by talking to you and referring to calming suggestions.

Hypnotherapists aim to achieve a level of relaxation which is sometimes known as a trance state. This is something we all achieve in our day to day lives, from daydreaming, to not recalling the drive on a familiar route.

In hypnotherapy the trance state is deliberately encouraged to help your subconscious mind receive beneficial suggestions to help you to achieve your desired goal. Many psychological problems have been treated and have benefited from this gentle and natural process, including:-

- Addiction

- Anxiety Disorders

- Body Image and Weight Control

- Complicated Grief

- Depression

- Phobias

- Past Life Regression

- PTSD

- Relationship issues

- Self Esteem and Confidence issues

- Stress Management

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing

EMDR requires you to be fully conscious throughout the treatment, which uses the brains natural ability to heal by removing unhealthy beliefs and emotions associated with distressing memories.

The therapist helps you to identify an image and thought associated with the memory. You are then guided through the memory and are encouraged to track the therapist’s finger, resulting in the eyes moving from left to right.

The eye tracking movements reprocesses the memory and results in the reduction and/or removal of distressing symptoms such as panic attacks, sleep disturbance, distressing nigtmares and flashbacks.

EMDR has been proven effective in treating many psychological problems and is particularly noted for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, (NICE cg26 2005).

EMDR can be used to treat a range of issues and disorders including:-

- Addiction

- Anxiety Disorders

- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

- Body image and eating disorders

- Childhood trauma (sexual abuse, psychologicalabuse and   neglect)

- Complicated Grief

- Depression

- Dissociative Identity Disorder

- Phobias

- PTSD

- Relationship issues

- Self esteem and confidence issues

- Stress and Anger Management
